How can I know if my Walbro Fuel Pump I bought from another vendor is genuine?

The one question we get more than any other: How can I know if my Walbro Fuel Pump I bought from another vendor is genuine?
It is almost impossible for anyone to verify the authenticity of a Walbro Fuel Pump (made in the USA by TI Automotive) without cutting the pump open. But what you get _with_ your pump can give you a very good clue.
Rarely does a vendor sell Walbro forgeries and then go to the trouble to source genuine Walbro installation components. Instead, the send low-grade parts. And that is a bit easier to detect.
Fake Walbro Component Kit Clue #1
All genuine Walbro installation component kits come in a clear plastic bag with the kit's part number stamped on the bag. The number may be in a different font than the one shown, and there may be a UPC code. The bag is heat-sealed.
Update: Some information on this page maybe outdated. For example, the installation kits have been updated and now comes in white/clear plastic bags. We will be working on putting together a new and more up to date guide shortly.

Fake Walbro Component Kit Clue #2
It contains an instruction sheet specific to the kit. Although the kit number will not be printed on the sheet, the images will show the components that are in that kit. If the instructions show something different than what is in the kit, it's not generic--it's fake.

If your installation components arrive and do not have these traits, they are for certain not genuine Walbro. And if your vendor cuts corners on the installation components, they are quite possibly selling you a forged pump as well. Let the buyer beware.
